June 2022 Vacation Day 17, Yellowstone National Park, Old Faithful Geyser · · PAGE 44.

June 8, 2022:  This day is becoming a long one for us as we have reached our primary destination in Yellowstone Park.  I took this photo of the sign as I was entering the viewing area.

We noticed a sign that said "NO PETS BEYOND THIS POINT".  We sat down on a log that was on the "pet side of he sign and a reasonable distance away from the geyser.

Here is Linda's sequence of photos of the steam during the Old Faithful eruption. (130)

Here is Linda's photo (131).

Here is her parting shot of the sign out front.

This is the first of my Geyser photos.  The geyser vents steam in "small amounts" constantly.

The steam is building slowly.  My photos below shows the crowd near the geyser.  Look closely to see how some of them move around in the photos below.

The steam is getting thicker.

The steam is rising higher as the pressure from below makes it up to the surface.

BIGGER and BIGGER!

I rotated my camera to capture more of the height of the plume of steam.  This image is taller than it is wide.

That raised wooden walkway is the nearest safe place to view the Old Faithful geyser.

The steam cloud gets wider with a gentle breeze blowing from the south side of the geyser.

I changed the camera zoom lens setting to give a wider view that shows the last of the steam from this eruption.

Here is the final photo I captured of Old Faithful at 6:50 PM Mountain Standard Time.  The longer days of sunlight come from the 44 degrees northern latitude here at Yellowstone National Park.

We have returned via the 17 mile ride from Old Faithful to the Entrance Road. We turned left here to head for the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park.

As we were heading toward the exit on the East side of Lake Yellowstone, We stopped at this turnout to get a number of overlapping snapshots of the other side of the lake. (1)

Looking toward the East side of the lake provides photo number (2).

Looking southeast gives overlap number (3).  It appears to show a couple of ducks out there.

This image is zoomed in to the mountain at the right side of the photo above.

When I came here the first time in 1998, we stayed at a motel in Cody, Wyoming.  I checked all the motels over there for this trip to find no rooms available.  This is going to be a long night.

The NEXT mileage sign is seen after starting EAST from Yellowstone National Park Grand Loop Road at Lake Junction.
