September 9-10, 2005 · · DHS Homecoming Weekend
Friday - September 9 - Page 2 - George Thomas is
contemplating a good reply when I asked him to pose for the camera. Linda Gaddy is
enjoying his facial reaction to my request.
By the time I get folks centered in my lens, they seem to stop talking.
Ray Buck and Tim Smith do not mug for the camera like some do.
Ronnie Barber and Steed Hill get ringside seats for the parade and you will see
why later. Sam Hardin is enjoying a beer.
As you can see, more of us were waiting at Ronnie's house than attended the pep
session. Vivian Deems is at the left end of the sign next to Beth Langley Burdick
holding that end of the sign. Fred Huggins is holding the other end of the sign.
Bobby Anderson is sitting in the lawn chair under the tree wearing a red shirt.
When the first vehicles of the parade pass by, our group starts to wave and
cheer on the participants.
Sunlight conditions and shadows have rendered Betty's husband Douglas Kimball,
Tim Smith, and Lloyd Starks into profile silhouettes. Betty's face is lit up by her
enthusiasm! She is still hanging on to my yearbook.
And of course, here is part of what our crowd is watching: the young ladies of
the homecoming parade. Oh, how I hate the delay of digital cameras when you push
that button and they finally take the photograph.
The various participants in the parade toss candy treats to people along the
parade route. Some of the debris on the roadway is candy, thrown not only by the
participants, but also from Ronnie on the sidewalk just to the left of this shot.
