DHS Homecoming Weekend
Friday, September 9 - 2:00 PM - ATTEND PEP SESSION.
The Pep Session was well attended by alumni from 1955, 1975, 1985, and 1995.
Our numbers from the Class of 1965 was less than we hoped for. Of course you
will have to add me to the number of faces seen here. And I apologize for not
getting Barbara Rappold Lutzky in this photo next to her husband Richard (wearing the blue
shirt and glasses). To remedy that, I took another picture focused on her shown
below this one.
Now that the weekend is history, I think I can say that Barbara had more fun than
almost any of us who participated. She was regretful that she had lost contact with
us since her family moved away from Dalton to New Jersey in 1966.
Ray Buck came in from Phoenix, Arizona to see his brother and family for this
week. Lee Johnson and I both sat in the top row of seats in our area. The
class of 1955 was sitting in the area adjacent to ours with 1975 on the other side of our
zone.
Friday - September 9 - AFTER PEP SESSION -
Betty Monger and her husband Douglas Kimball came from California again this year. Douglas is in the background wearing a blue shirt and talking with David Gaddy. Betty and Douglas came for our 20th reunion in 1985. Betty needed some reminders about some of our names and faces. I got out my yearbook to make it easy for her to associate names and faces from the past to who we are today. This photo is taken on the front lawn at Ronnie Barber's house where we gathered to watch the parade participants coming from the high school after the pep session. And of course, Beth Langley's favorite man is enjoying a beer. Take a good look at this picture, Fred Burdick did not look like this at the banquet on Saturday night.Barbara had such a good time meeting everyone, including Sam Hardin. Tim
Smith and Ray Buck engage in conversation back by the tent.
Ralph Stafford (left) and Don Thompson (center) enjoy a beer and some
conversation. Don recently had surgery and is doing fine as you can see. Our
host for the day, Ronnie Barber (white hat) is engaged in conversation with Fred Huggins
(blue shirt) at the right side of this photo. You may wonder why I gave the
locations of the folks in the photo below. Since Betty wanted our 1965 yearbook to
easily identify some of us, I thought I would make it easy for those of you who may not
have a yearbook handy while you are looking at the photos on these web pages.
Ronnie and Fred ham it up for me now that they are the center of my attention
with the camera. Richard Lutzky is bringing a pair of lawn chairs from his green
pickup truck in the background.
Alan Little, Lee Johnson, and Frank Patterson enjoy the shade of the tent while
waiting for the parade to come down from the high school. Ronnie provided bottled
water for those who did not want beer or soft drinks.
