My Texas Family comes to Florida on vacation.

June 6, 2010: I met my son and his family at a restaurant not far from their hotel near Kissimmee, Florida.  Since I have a friend I visit in nearby Saint Cloud, the drive was a short one, except for the tourist traffic.   We arrived on time for our 5 PM dinner date.  Here is Edward and his wife Julie on the first afternoon of their vacation to Florida.

My 11-year-old grandson Ian sometimes does not like having his photo taken, so I snapped this one while he was distracted with his smart phone.

I got him to look at the camera, but you can see he would rather be playing the game on his phone as we wait for our dinner to be served.

I finally get the reaction I want and the camera to fire at the same time.

I wanted to get one more photo outside after dinner, but as you can see, he is playing with me with this shy pose.

I am sure the next time I get to see him, the will be a bit taller as he is entering the age when more growth spurts occur.  I remember it well, it has just been 50 years ago for me.  The shirt came with a marker pen.  The Nickelodeon Hotel is where they are staying this week.  They have a water park on the hotel, not just a swimming pool.

During the dinner, my son mentioned he wanted to get to the EAA Convention, AirVenture at Oshkosh this year.  I told him I would work out the flight plan and the estimated expenses.  I also have to coordinate my vacation days off with my boss and the business travels he has in mind for this summer.  We spent nearly three hours together this Friday evening.  There was a movie at the hotel Ian wanted to see after dinner.  We said our good-byes and headed in opposite directions.

As I headed back toward Saint Cloud, I noticed the Kissimmee Airport sign on US 192.  I went down to see if there were significant changes since my landing here back in 2005.  I found these two local residents in the airport parking area.  This couple of cranes probably have a nest nearby for sure since mating season is approaching.
