May 8, 2013: Terry and Wendell have arrived
at the Rick Husband Amarillo Airport (KAMA). TAC Air operates the FBO here for
general aviation aircraft services. Terry was the manager at the TAC Air facility at
the Chattanooga Airport. A connection like this gets good treatment for the guys
even though they are not in a business jet. This photo was taken at 6:16 PM Eastern
Time.

TAC Air hangar is the ceremonial meeting between Wendell and Jack Noe, the new owner of
the Aeronca Champ. Jack will begin the trip to Salinas, California tomorrow.
Jack brought along commercial pilot Gary Tuovinen to help fly the Champ to
California. Terry McDowell is on the right end of the group.
May 9, 2013: Thursday morning and time to
get the airplane ready to fly today. Jack and Gary start putting their gear into the
airplane. The use of a battery-powered intercom is required since the Champ has no
electrical system.

Personal baggage is ready to be stowed.
Wendell fills the main fuel tank one last time at the self-serve fuel pump.
The flight from Elk City, Oklahoma used 7.7 gallons.

Here is the last group photo before Jack and Gary get aboard for the departure
for California. The temperature this morning was chill 50 degrees F.
