Replacing the Water Well Pump · · PAGE 12.

May 31, 2020:   Along with the lightning strike last night, I discovered this morning the well water pump was out of service.  One of the good things about Linda living in Saint Cloud for all her life, she knows a guy who puts in water wells.  Part of his work is visible here from some work she had done a few years ago with the water tank when the bladder ruptured.  A friend of hers she has known since high school, put in the new tank.  This time, the tank gets a new pump.  The one seen here was installed when the house was built in 1990.  She moved here in 2011.

I was looking over the fence to take this pictures when the work was being done today.

He pulled out his volt meter tester from his tool box and quickly determined the pump motor was fried, probably from the loud lightning strike from last night.

He tells Linda he has a new pump in the truck that will fit her requirements.  You can see him and his helper out by the truck parked on this side of the street.

The old pump and motor are 20 years old and were quickly removed by cutting the PVC pipes and disconnecting the electrical wires from the water pressure switch.

The new pump and motor are now sitting on the same spot vacated by the old units.  He starts measuring the length of PVC pipe to get the water connections restored.

I was amazed at how quickly he prepared the PVC pipes and right-angle connections.

He quickly gets to the wiring on the water pressure switch assembly.

There is a bad monitor on top of the tank that needs some help. A little power supply was also damaged by the lightning surge.

The pump was primed and started with the end result of clear water with plenty of pressure.

End of water test and the valve is closed.

June 1, 2020: A new power supply is attached for the meter at the top of the water tank.  The black electrical tape will protect the little power supply and socket connected to it.
